We continue to embarass ourselves. We could not have a civilized, respectful debate. We could not reason with each other, only yell and accuse each other of being communists. For those reasons, we have failed ourselves and our community. Old soldiers hold on to a war in the past, a war that the US government wants to forget and that we should learn from, not dwell in.
I've made earlier statements that fear can hold us back from seeing our true potential. Fear is what stops us from standing up for what we believe in. Today, we see what stubborness and reckless abandon does to our community. Today, I am ashamed of my community.
Worse still, these ancient remnants of a past war that hold our community down from meeting its true potential make threats, as if they have some mystical power over the voters of San Jose, to remove those in office. They are an embarrassment to us, deserving neither our respect nor our loyalty. They do not represent me.
